Wave won the OVAM Ecodesign Award PRO 2008, category of the Henry Van De Velde Awards organised by Design Flanders.

The Beci Bike Project is a sustainable modular bicycle storage infrastructure, designed for the city of Brussels. It consists of a portable bike rack (covered or uncovered) for traditional bikes and folding bikes. The entire system fits into one parking place. The package consists of different elements that can be used separately or in combination to meet the needs of any situation, thus avoiding wasting space or materials. Alle the materials are easy to recycle and by using the aluminum profiles, an incredible amount of raw material is saved. On January 13th we received the OVAM Ecodesign Award PRO 2008 during the award ceremony of the Henry Van De Velde Awards. Our product ‘Wave’ won the first prize for products on the market. These prestigious Awards and Labels are handed out every year by Design Flanders in the Flemish Parliament in Brussels. 2008 was the first year that there was an Ecodesign Award PRO. This in cooperation with OVAM.

The OVAM Ecodesign Award PRO 08 for products on the market goes to Wave

Ecodesign was strongly applied and well thought-out in this illuminated sign system: innovative and sparing illumination technique (LED lighting with Elit acrylic) who only consumes 1/7 of a traditional system, well thought-out use of materials (aluminium and PMMA/PET/PP plate), integration of functions, a hinge that rotates the panel when it’s getting hit by a vehicle. It’s completely modular, easy to dismantle which improves recycling.

On top of that the system is designed that it can handle every size between 30cm and 300cm in steps of 30cm what’s making it compatible with the size of the pictos. In this way no unneeded space is lighted. Every centimeter of material is being used because the sizes are being set on the standard material sizes.

This new sign system was completely designed and developed for underground parkings. Fosfor developed a complete modular system that can handle every size between 30cm & 300cm in steps of 30cm. This is flexible and cost saving. Not only for the purchase but also in energy costs. Thanks to innovative LED lighting techniques we use 1/10 of the energy compared to traditional fluorescent lamps. It's completely designed to last for a long time by using sustainable materials like aluminium and polypropylene. All materials that have a low eco impact and that are easy to recycle. The complete sign is made without using paint, glue or other fixing products. This makes the sign easy to dismantle into recycable materials.
